Light painting
Light painting investigation ; the person I'm doing a photography investigation on is Michael Bosanko.
Some examples of Michael Bosanko : .
Harry Potter. Tidal Tree Tree Of Life
Though the light painting I'm going to investigate : Is the illumination painting of Banksy.
The name of this photographer is Michael Bosanko. He is born from Cardiff. The name of this light painting is called 'Illuminating Banksy's The Balloon Girl.' The date of which this photograph is unknown. I think that he re-created this photo because this is one of Banksy's most well known graffiti piece and I think that Michael wanted to show this in a light painting. It shows the red hear balloon floating away, which I think could represent how things in life can sometimes disappear and there is a chance you won't see it / them again. This photograph shows a little girl losing her red, helium heart balloon. I believe that the main focus of this image is the balloon floating away from the girl. The thing I like about this image is that, the light of colours he uses compliments each other. The composition style he has used is 'Balance.' Bosanko has used light as the main focus of this image. The body language he has created for the girl, is her trying to reach out in despair to get her balloon back to her. Some of the formal elements he has used could be : the colour, tone and shape. I believe that Bosanko has achieved the meaning he was aiming for in this light painting. He has focused his camera at his light painting. The aperture that could've been used could be F/22 or F/16. If that aperture setting is correct the shutter speed Michael would have used would be a very long shutter speed.
Definition of light painting : Light painting is the art of using lights (different colours) to draw a scene., during a long exposure photo.
Throughout this course we have been given a chance to add on coursework we may have missed. For me, I thought that it would be good to revisit some of my writing a year later and date it here, which will further show my improvement within this course. However, on saying this, i am going to leave my year ten coursework due to the reasoning my writing has improved. So below is a short write up continuing from my artist investigation - Michael Bosanko.
I could use Michael Bosanko for my inspiration if i ever did a shoot upon this would be to experiment with apertures and f stops using a wide range and variety. I will also be using finger lights using the light to paint images i will be using this in my manual camera setting mode within my camera. I believe these images above are all showing different emotions and feelings and making the audience feel a certain way. So within my shoot i am going to try and accomplish captivating the audience. (I did this within my concealment GCSE where i experimented further and was extremely successful.) In my shoot for below i am just going to follow through by experimenting simply as its a new and unusual way for me to capture images. I am going to use juxtaposing colours like yellow and red etc, to create a harsh and bold contrast alongside some harmonizing colours such as blues and purples to create more depth and power. Through doing this, i am also hoping to capture some intricate details as instead of painting things i will be trying to use light to frame a models face.
Unfortunately within this shoot i found out as this was only a mini light project we were only going to do our name but this shoot explanation and my idealistic shoot for this was done in my Concealment mock! It was extremely successful.
Learning different composition techniques:
Composition definition - Composition is how elements of how a photo is arranged. Sometimes it can be made up of many elements or hardly any at all. Composition is how a photographer can make their photographs interesting.
Framing composition rule - Framing refers to a photograph where a frame creates a frame within your picture. Framing normally goes around the main focus of the picture.
Wrong Photographs!
Wrong photos / photographs means breaking one or more of the composition rules. It could be a pure accident but something great comes out of it. This is what we call a happy accident.
